Dr. Kathryn F. Echols, M.D., FAAD

Dr. Kathryn Echols, M.D. was interested in a number of medical specialties; cardiology, dermatology, neurology and pathology were her top picks. She loves thinking through and solving complex medical problems, interacting with patients, and performing dermatologic surgery, which is why she chose to specialize in dermatology. Due to her interest in pathology, she also chose to further specialize with a year long fellowship in dermatopathology. This makes her one of a only a few dermatologists in the state of Colorado with specialty training in both dermatology and dermatopathology and makes her uniquely trained to fully understand the clinical-pathologic correlation in cutaneous disease.

Dr. Echols passed up many other job opportunities in both Colorado and Montana to come to Salida.  Dr. Echols and her husband, Blain, enjoyed frequent trips to Salida and Buena Vista during her internship year, which she completed in Denver, and they just knew that they had to live in this area of Colorado! Dr. Echols and her husband feel they share the values of Coloradans and enjoy everything outdoors including hiking, mountain biking, and skiing.  Dr. Echols is looking forward to spending time enjoying Salida's art community and hopes to further her own artistic skills.  When asked what aspects about living in Salida she was most excited for her young son to experience, she replied without hesitation; "becoming a part of the community!"  The Echols eagerly await taking their son swimming in the hot springs pool, taking him on hikes with their dog around their new home, teaching him to ride a bike and to appreciate this beautiful area they are fortunate enough to call home.

Dr. Echols enjoys all aspects of medical and surgical dermatology and dermatopathology. She also received training in cosmetic dermatology in her residency program and looks forward to fulfilling those needs for the Salida community. Additionally, she trained under an excellent board-certified pediatric dermatologist who instilled in her a special interest in pediatric dermatology.
